Are you ready to learn how to can your own produce? Ever wanted to make your own pickles or jam? Are you an experienced canner and need more space? Gather your friends together and can away in our Commercial Kitchen. Bring your own items to can. Canning supplies may be purchased for an additional fee.
Have you been dreaming of chickens in your backyard? This is a two-hour introductory class on raising and maintaining laying hens. Topics to be covered: space, housing, safety, health, and ongoing maintenance of your flock. Included Farm tour of coops and runs with question and answer session will to help you to make decisions for your space. Course will also include a handout of all curriculum.
You are welcome to be part of the Farm's annual chick order (chicks to arrive late March/early April). We will be ordering Americaunas, white leghorns, barred rocks and maybe a few Rhode Islands. Next order will be placed in February. Contact us if interested.
Cold season greens and sprouting at home. Yes, there are some green you can start in the ground before Mother's Day in Colorado! There are also other superfoods that you can sprout in your home all winter without ever going out in the cold. Join us for this 2-hour course on the growing and nutritional value of cold-season greens and sprouts. Participants will make their own sprouting jar and go home with handout of techniques and recipes, a sprouting jar, and some starter seeds for both growing and sprouting.
If you have used the amazing soaps from the Farm, then you know that homemade skin products are the best! In this 2.5 hour class we will go through the process of making (soapafication) and molding soap. Soaps will be made with olive oil, essential oils, and other natural additives like milk, honey, and dried herbs. Participants will customize their own bars of soap to take home! Course will also include a handout of all curriculum with recipes for extensions at home.
NOTE: This is a natural chemical process using LYE so please bring safety glasses/goggles, as well as some non-porous dishwashing gloves.
