I met Ruthanne as my friend Amanda's mother. Once Ruthanne moved to Colorado, she and Amanda became part of my extended family. I will remember Ruthanne with a paint brush in hand - painting barn walls, China cabinets, and other furniture at Amanda's farm. I will remember her looking at colors, in the context of a specific space, and then turning the lights out and looking again. I remember many concerts with Ruthanne - at the symphony, opera, the Botanic Gardens. Almost always accompanied by a good meal - so many meals - usually with wine. She loved travel and food and wine - and color - looking at the world, even every day and mundane spaces with an eye for beauty and balance. I admire her willingness to join in - with Amanda and friends, on wild and crazy adventures, and more mellow picnics in the park. I will miss her giggle when telling stories off the cuff, and her hearty, throw-back the head laugh at a good meal with friends. And her love for the lucky, lucky bull terriers that became her Colorado grand children. They all loved her, too.
